Double
win for Curnow at Croft extends Championship lead (28 July 04)
Rounds
11 and 12 of the Formula BMW Championship took place at Croft
circuit in
North Yorkshire
on 24th and 25th July. After another very
impressive display, Ross Curnow came away with 2 victories to
extend his lead in the rookie class Championship.
In
Race 1 Ross once again qualified as fastest rookie and an amazing
4th overall. He finished the race 7th
overall and 1st rookie.
In
Race 2 Ross qualified 7th overall after having a spin
on new tyres in qualifying, and finished the race 10th
overall and 1st rookie to win both races in his class.
“This was despite a first corner incident which damaged the
front wing causing me to lose front downforce resulting in
understeer and front locking brakes” explained Curnow
afterwards.
Ross
is now leading the rookie class by 31 points with only 4 meetings
left. The next meeting is at Knockhill in Scotland on the 7th
And 8th August.
