Ross Curnow takes maiden win from pole

Ross Curnow became the first Rookie driver to be the overall race winner when he won Round 13 of the Formula BMW Championship at Knockhill on August 7th. After qualifying in pole position, Ross controlled the race from the start and finished ahead of second place driver Stian Sorlie. Curnow drove a text book race despite being under pressure all the time.

Ross’s win was not an easy one as he had Stian in his wing mirrors for the entire race. “I had to stay steady and consistent as he was right behind me. I made a mistake in the hairpin on one lap but was able to keep him behind. It was hard work but it is a great feeling to have won my first race in the series.”

Ross's podium visit was not his only one of the day as he also finished first rookie and third overall in race two. The race was stopped with 6 laps to go when Da Costa rolled it, but Ross now has a very impressive lead in the Rookie class from Sam Bird and Jordan Wise.
