Curnow
signs for Soper Sport (4 Feb 05)
After informal talks
with a number of teams interested in running Ross Curnow in the
2005 Formula BMW Championship, the Salisbury based driver finally
signed with Soper Sport in January. Team principal Steve Soper said they were delighted to have Ross on board this
year and believe he will be a strong contender for the overall
championship.
The team, which took
Phillip Glew to second place last year, was testing in Guadix in
Spain with Curnow at the end of January. In one of the coldest
weeks that southern Spain has ever seen, Ross said: “We weren’t
expecting temperatures like this and it’s meant that on some days,
we haven’t been able to run until the afternoon. It’s been a great
opportunity for me to get to know the team, however, and I’m
really looking forward to working with them throughout the year.
I’ve had a good feeling about things this week - I know we’re
going to do well.”
