Ross Curnow very fast at Valencia (12 Dec 03)

Ross Curnow made a big impression on observers at the two day event in Valencia on 1st and 2nd December which was organised by BMW for prospective entrants to the 2004 Formula BMW UK Championship. Although times were not published, BMW sources indicated he was second fastest from the field of 21. Unlike some of the others competing, Ross had not driven the car before nor seen the circuit and he adapted very quickly to the new conditions.

BMW have now selected him to return to Spain in January to be considered for one of five coveted BMW Scholarships. Each of these is worth £35,000 and is open to Rookies of any nationality aged under 18, providing they have not taken part in any Championship motor race since graduating from karts.

Since the drive, Ross has been in discussion with several leading teams planning to contest the 2004 Championship and an announcement is expected soon.
